✅ Step 1: Open the Hoppy Cookie App
1️⃣ From your Shopify Admin: Go to Apps.
2️⃣ Click on Hoppy Cookie to open the app.
✅ Step 2: Access Banner Settings
3️⃣ On the left-hand panel of the app, click on Banner Settings.
4️⃣ You'll be directed to the main configuration area for the cookie banner.
✅ Step 3: Go to the "Region" Tab
5️⃣ Inside the Banner Settings section, click on the "Region" tab.
6️⃣ This is where you control where your cookie banner is displayed based on visitor location.
✅ Step 4: Enable Cookie Bar by Region
7️⃣ You'll see different targeting options. Here's what they mean:
All Countries🌍
Select this option to show the cookie banner to every visitor, no matter where they are in the world.
🇪🇺 EU & UK Countries (GDPR)🌐
Targets visitors from the European Union and the United Kingdom.
Required under GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
🇺🇸 US State Laws (CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA)🌐
Enables cookie compliance for California, Utah, Connecticut, Colorado, and Virginia.
Based on laws like CCPA/CPRA.
🇧🇷 Brazil (LGPD)🌐
Ensures compliance with LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados).
🇨🇦 Canada (PIPEDA)🌐
Targets users under PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act).
🇯🇵 Japan (APPI)🌐
Complies with APPI (Act on the Protection of Personal Information).
8️⃣ For each region:
Check the box next to the applicable region(s)📌.
Use the country selector to choose specific countries 🎯 within that region (multi-select available).
⚠️ Important Note on Consent Status - For some regions, like the EU:
"The default consent status must be set to null.🚫"
(This means cookies shouldn't be set unless users give clear consent, especially important for GDPR.)💼
✅ Step 5: Save Changes
9️⃣ Once you've selected the appropriate targeting settings, click Save to apply your configuration.
🔟 Your cookie banner is now geo-targeted and will only show where it's required.
